Classic Albums 1986

Takoma, DC's community art space, The Electric Maid, brings together some of the brightest young singer-songwriters for something a little different. These accomplished local musicians will set their original material aside for an evening to pay tribute to some of the greatest albums released in 1986. Rene Moffatt (of "Route 42" notoriety) performs songs from Paul Simon's unparalleled "Graceland;" Adrian "Hardkor" Krygowski will tackle Peter Gabriel's hit powerhouse "So." Taking on "The Boss" himself is Bicycle Thieves' Jon Kaplan, with selections from "Live '75-'85." Amber Dutton will interpret The Violent Femmes' "The Blind Leading the Naked," while MetroSongs composer Jason Mendelson and his band, the Open Doors, will close the evening as Elvis Costello and the Attractions with songs from "Blood & Chocolate." Show starts at 7:30pm. Suggested donation $10.
